well, i'm trying to update this once a week over the weekends now... so here is what i have done over the past week. On monday and friday, i made it down into one of the practice rooms after chamber choral and on wednesday, after bass sectionals. On all three of these occasions, i used pretty much the same rutine. I first ran through the major and minor scales as usual, and then worked on intervals as usual. One excercise that i find to be particularly helpful is to sing all the pitches of a chromatic scale while returning to Do in between each one. (do-di-do-re-do-mi-etc.) although i usually cant remember all of the solfege names so i end up doing it on la. Then i worked on sight singing some stuff from that-which-shall-not-be-named.

Long time, no post.
so, this is the first time i have posted in over a month. i'm going to start trying to do a weekly post to keep track of my practices. since my last post however, i have been making it into one of the practice rooms every monday, wednesday, and friday after chamber choral. my practices have pretty much remained the same as i described them in my last post, but starting tomorrow, im going to start working the augmented and diminished triads and inversions that we went over in class.

Hooray!!!
I'm really proud of myself this week. Not only did i make it to the practice rooms on both monday and wednesday after choir, but i spent about 45 minutes practicing each time. i'm starting to get a regular routine set up in my practicing so that i spend a certain amount of time practicing different things (scales, intervals, etc.). i'm really startng to get the hang of it and i can feel that it is starting to help me out in ap quite a bit.

Wow, the last time that i posted was feb 6. It doesnt seem that long ago. Well, I hadn't worked out my schedule till almost a week after that; feb 12 to be exact. So, i pretty much decided on that monday that i would just go down to one of the practice rooms after choir was over at three and work on ap. i didnt really have any set plan on what to work on so i mostly just drilled scales, arpeggios, intervals, and stuff like that. after i was done, i decided that i sould just make a habit of going down to the practice rooms after choir on monday, wednesday, and friday and work on ap. after a couple of times of this i had it pretty much worked out that i would start with scales (Major and minor), move on to the triad thingy that we have been doing in class from the kruger book, and then try sightsinging random examples from both books. so, that is what i have been doing for the past few weeks. what i have to do now is start posting what i've done as soon as i get back to my room so i wont have to make another post like this one.
So yeah, I actually woke up an hour earlier today,by accident, so i decided to get some AP practice done before classes start. Mostly, i did chord work; major, minor, diminished, and augmented; and then worked on some sight-singing.
